I have spent over 25 years teaching and managing in a range of private further education colleges, helping students take and carry through the decisions that mark their transition into adulthood, while securing the grades and outcomes they need to prosper at university and into the workplace.
Excelling in public examinations is clearly a vital part of this process – if nothing else, performing to one’s best in externally-assessed tasks, is key to anyone’s sense of self-worth and contentment. However, top grades and university offers are a symptom rather than a cause – what gives me the greatest pleasure and my students and their parents the greatest satisfaction is helping them work through and then overcome the real obstacles that have been prompted them for look for help.
